British Rowing boat ID regulations

British Rowing boat identity scheme requires all rowing boats to have a unique ID code identifying it. The boat code is made up of three letters identifying the club (this is the boat code allocated by British Rowing and can be found within the Club Hub section of British Rowing) and three numbers (including zeros) as determined by the Club identifying the rowing boat e.g. ABC123.

Rowing boat lettering must be in capitals, in a regular sans serif (no frills!) font (eg. Arial not Times New Roman), with a minimum height of 6cm and clearly readable (in a contrasting colour) on both port and starboard bow, saxboard or vertical surface. You can specify font weight as ‘Medium’ or ‘Bold’ when you order and the height is set at 60mm on our rowing boat codes order page.

Overseas clubs will need a four letter boat identification code in order to race in their own boats on EA waters. This will fit on the boat code order page (providing you don’t leave a space between the four letter code and numbers. Any variations on the above (outside the constraints of a boat code), please use the boat name order page instead, for font alternatives and longer codes (e.g. SSR codes for other craft).

Other Boat Codes (eg SSR)

The requirements for SSR (Small Ships Register) codes is as follows:
Each digit of the number should be a minimum of 30mm in height and 20mm in width, except for the number 1, which should be 5mm in width and have a thickness of 5mm with a space of 5mm between each digit. These can be ordered as a boat name, specifying 30mm or more in height.
